Hello! I’m Julia.
I'm a nursing student and former art director, graphic designer, and illustrator based in Brooklyn. I grew up in Westchester, NY and graduated from RISD in 2016 with a BFA in Illustration and Graphic Design.
I worked at Penguin Workshop, a children’s book imprint of Penguin Random House, designing and art directing content for ages 0-17 across many formats for 6 years. As Assistant Art Director, I art directed all book covers and interiors for the World of Eric Carle imprint (10-15 books a year), and designed book covers and interiors for the Penguin Workshop imprint (another 10-15 books a year).
Before my time at PRH, I was a graphic design intern at Dr. Oz The Good Life at Hearst Magazines, and interned with artist Stavit Allweis in her creation of the photo-graphic novel, Isness.
In 2022, I left the publishing industry to pursuse a career in healthcare. After a year of continuing my science education at CUNY Hunter College, I began the Accelerated Bachelor’s in Nursing program at SUNY Downstate in August 2023. I am graduating in December, 2024, and look forward to providing excellent patient care in my new role as a registered nurse. My long-term goal is to eventually pursue a master’s in nursing practice to become a nurse practioner specializing in women’s and LGBTQ+ health.
In my free time, I love watching documentaries, making posters for my friends’ comedy shows and concerts, and spending time outdoors with my dog. While nursing is certainly my focus now, I'm still open to occasional freelance work, and happy to answer questions or offer advice to anyone new to the design industry. Feel free to email me.
